There’s a reason i don’t find that Arctic Monkeys are dickheads: because they are not
Actually, the anon has a point. As much as may like AM and its fandom some people just blindly believe in AM and just have the same daft minds of 1D fans sometimes.
Call on bullshit when you see it, Jesus.
I am not talking about 1D or Miley or anyone darling, music is music and anyone can like all kinds they want, but I can’t call AM hipster pop, I just can’t im sorry
Well, I believe they’re talking about Pop as genre, but rather that it’s popular, because let’s face it AM are big, even if I may not agree with the term “hipster pop” AM are still big and yeah, it does have it’s whole oooh, popular and all:) and hipsters seem to have an AM liking, but that’s about it.
And I myself was saying that the fans do act irrationally and jump out of their own trousers just to defend AM blindly, regardless of whatever AM do and I think that’s where me and the anon agree on. And this debate was never about what genre AM are or the music quality but rather about the daft fans and I guess by calling it “hipster pop” they were just saying that daft fans exist really.
yeah but the difference lays mainly in the MUSIC
GUYS WHY THE FUCK DO YOU ALWAYS FORGET ABOUT THE MUSIC WHEN U TALK ABOUT MUSICIANS HUH
who gives a shit about their popularity or their fans? just stick to the damn music and you’ll spot a bigger difference than “hipster” or “mainstream”We are not talking popularity, silly. Why does everyone misunderstand us? I am merely drawing parallels between some things. That’s all, dude.
what’s the point tho
The point is healthy discussion and criticising hypocrisy. <3
i see the healthy discussion but really there is no hypocrisy in saying that AM are different from 1D because they definitely are. then again, i’m not saying one is superior to the other because who am i to judge that.
Arctic Monkeys and 1D are the same to me. However, I agree with you on the superiority. Music is deeply personal, nothing is an absolute truth.
This is such a stupid post I don´t feel like many of you know a thing about their music because you refer to it as POP - since when are the Arctic Monkeys doing Pop ? Or Jake ? Or Miles ? And they just deserve the term hipster in America because the Arctic Monkeys and Miles have been long known in many parts of the world before the term hipster even was a thing..
Since always. Every single release by Bugg and Miles have been pop. Every single release by Arctic Monkeys except Humbug, their best record, has been monotome and insipid pop music. I am from Denmark and knew the lads early on; by hipster, I mean the movement the fans belong to.
Hipster is actually an old word, mate, originating in the fifties/sixties. :)Arctic Monkey albums are not rated as Pop where did you get this information from ? And neither are Miles´ or Jake´s albums ..And yeah Humbug is defenitely not their best album but anyways..Most people from Europe (like me) knew them early on so what I meant was that there hasnt been a hipster movement like there is now ..Mate. And by the way I have been visitng concerts of the Arctic Monkyes, Miles Kane, Jake Bugg and One Direction and I can safely say that their fans are nothing alike (only those of Miles and Arctic Monkeys).
Pop music comes in various forms. Check out my latest answer to an anonymous asker. Humbug was AM’s best release as it stood out and was original in comparison to their other poorly executed music. The fans aren’t the same necessarily, but they all act and behave the same. Group mentality where people are blind and oblivious to obvious flaws. That’s sickening.
Yeah I checked your last anon answer and found it to be wrong, too. So you are trying to tell me that Whatever People Say I Am That´s What I Am Not was not original or stood out ? Thats a very weird thing to say..Like I said, I´ve got to see many of those fans and they are not the same, including their behaviour (obviously). I don´t understand why you want people to see the flaws when it seems ike you are the only one who sees them - which doesn´t make them true. And what is wrong with artists having a big fanbase ? They are not harming anyone (not including the 1D fanbase) so why not let them be..
WPSIATWIAN was not original and it did not stand out. They copied the entire style of The Strokes. The Strokes was very popular back then in England and there were loads of cover bands and Arctic Monkeys decided to plagiarise their style and got famous, unfortunately.
Their behaviour is the same. It’s the blind and gullible kind that I notice you are susceptible to as well.
I want people to see flaws because they shouldn’t be mindless and stupid sheep that just follows the flock. If Alex Turner decided to shit on a baby, people would still congratulate him. It’s a sickening group behaviour that must cease. I am, luckily, not the only one to see the flaws but we are few in numbers. Just because a majority of people like something, doesn’t make it true - look at religion and god, for example. And I am not criticising the size of the fanbase. Please read what I post, mate. I am merely criticising the lack of critical thinking skills and the sheep-like behaviour.
Well, even if they were inspired by the Strokes, that does not mean that the cd is just a plagiat of their music. I mean its success just speaks for itself. It just seems like you want to sound unique or different by criticising these people (which is more than weak, as well as your personal comments..) I mean I don´t care if you like them or not but to say people are stupid for loving them is just absurd. I mean when you really like someone you do not look out for flaws all the time, do you ? ..And what is the worst is that you just find the gall to say you know exactly how these people are (especially seen with the example you gave about Alex…). Believe it or not, but some people just like everything those people do, and some maybe do not care about the people but the music(and just because people do not talk about the faults does not mean they aren´t seen). If you cannot accept that, you have got a problem .
“Just because a majority of people like something, doesn’t make it true - look at religion and god, for example.” - You do not have to be part of a minority to not be right - you are the best example for it..
I will be the first person to say that I am not unique nor a snowflake. Neither are you. No one is unique, it’s really easy to categorise and label people. People can love whomever they want to, but blind love must be ridiculed as it is a danger to the person and the people around that person. When I really like someone, I don’t look for flaws all the time. I don’t do that in the case of Arctic Monkeys. Several times have I said Humbug was admirable and phenomenal. However, when I like someone, I take a hard look on the person and myself. Are we compatible? Can I live with this person’s flaws? I expect the other person to do the same. Critical thinking is the most important tool you have as a human being.
If people like everything about a person or this person’s music, I will mock those people endlessly and relentlessly. They should think critically about things, questioning every move of their favourite artists, philosophers, idols, etc. Those you look up to define you in a big way as you mirror them.
And I am right, you are just too far up Arctic Monkeys’ bum to see it. You are confirming every single point I’ve made so far. Problem is that too few are able to see it. They are teens so maybe they will leave their impulses behind and start thinking instead.
Wow, seems like you jsut don´t want to understand, but that´s okay. If you read properly, you will see I never said I like anything about the people I mentioned. Actually, I think the music of the Arctic Monkeys got worse since Humbug- but they´re still better to me than most other artists on this planet. But just because I think like that does not mean I have to enforce my opinon on other people. But it seems that this is what you like to spend your free time with. So - you better sort out your priorities, gurl.
… its too early for this bullshit.
